In Aid of Prostate Cancer and Good Neighbours
The 2023 Captain’s Charity Day was played today on a resplendent course and with the weather being kind to us once again, despite some gloomy forecasts, there was some pretty impressive scoring.
This year’s captain JC’s chosen charities are <a href=”https://prostatecanceruk.org/”><span style=”color: #ff8500;”>Prostate Cancer UK</a> and local charity <a href=”https://www.richmondgoodneighbours.org.uk/”><span style=”color: #ff8500;”>Richmond Good Neighbours</a>. John Maguire was on spectacular form in the marquee during lunch and post proceedings in the afternoon dishing out the usual harsh (and some not so) fines for various misdemeanours and then running the raffle and auction.
Many thanks to all those who bid, donated items, dugout their best cords and breast pocketed shirt to be fine fodder and all those who played. These combined efforts have raised a whopping first count figure of £37,500!
We bid a fond farewell to our lovely Ladies’ Captain, Lucia Albrecht, at her Farewell Lunch on Tuesday 10th March.
Lucia’s charity for her year was Richmond Aid, a charity run by and for disabled people in the local area, supporting them to lead independent lives with the same opportunities as non-disabled people.
At the lunch, Lucia was proud to present them with a cheque for £23,100.
This fantastic amount was raised through various events during the year, with many thanks to all our members for their support and kind generosity.
Lucia will now hand over to Nicky Russell, who will become the new Ladies’ Captain after our AGM on 17th March 2026.
On Friday, February 27th 112 Club Members and guests attended the annual Captain’s Farewell Dinner. During his year in office, Captain Ron Lay’s charity was Momentum, a local charity who support families across Southwest London, Surrey and Sussex whose children are receiving treatment for Cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
When elected as Captain, Bill Boucher’s chosen charity for 2026/27 will be Ruils. They are a locally based charity whose mission is to support those with disabilities to live independently. They are close to his heart as have really helped his family, and many, many others.
We look forward to raising as much as possible during Bill’s term
Our 2025 Champion was James Tyler from Ipswich with a 69. Having previously been pipped an couple of times on countback James was delighted to eventually win the trophy.
